How the hell do I change my signature, my current one looks terrible.

I noticed that it says. Signatures are displayed at the bottom of each post or personal message. BBCode and smileys may be used in your signature. but it doesn't show the options of what I can add. So what exactly can I put in here? Is there a limit?
